I owe Scott $5

We expect to have units ready for shipping today, but made the decision to hang onto them for the weekend to give adequate time for more rigorous burn-in testing. Unfortunately, we’re getting critical PCBs right now that we hoped to have much earlier. We just made the tough call that we don’t feel comfortable rushing finished units out the door in the next three hours, as much as the entire team is as eager to start shipping as you are for us to do so.

If you’ve been reading the comments closely from our last post, you might have noticed that I took Scott on in a friendly wager on whether we’d ship today or not. You win Scott. Please let me know how I can get you that $5. (Or I’d be happy to include it with your unit if you prefer.) Regarding your comment that you thought we wouldn’t ship until this fall, I’ll happily go double or nothing on that one if you’d like.

We’ll be burning the midnight oil through the weekend to make this happen (and maybe win my $5 back).

Hi Philip, we have had a number of questions about our DSM module. Our main focus is getting Snaps into our customers’ hands. Then we plan to turn our attention to the accessories like DSM modules, filters, and different rotor sets.

    • Tobin Fisher Post author

      Reply

Burn in testing needs to be done on the actual units being shipped. Electronic devices tend to either fail quickly or last a long time. Burn in is a technique to catch the ones that will fail quickly.
This is different from the benchtop testing, design validation testing, performance testing, reliability testing, environmental testing, emissions testing, drop testing, user testing, field testing, beta testing, and quality testing that we’ve been doing for a while now.

Hi Philip, we are offering our customers the choice of how they want their extras shipped. If you would prefer to have everything shipped in one single shipment, we will gladly do that for you. Just respond to your shipping verification email as such, and we will hold your shipment until we can ship it in one shipment. Vantage Robotics has set up various ways to offer customer support. We have phone lines, email, and we are working on setting up pop up chat button to our website. We are setting up a new sales avenue where our customers can customize their shopping carts. We are ready to support our customers the way they supported us through this journey. Thanks

What I do not get is that you do not release the App, but you are almost shipping. How can people control the Snap then ?

And if they need more parts – e.g. the promised extras for pre-orders – there is nothing on the site for now.
And yet, the first official shipments should reach people any day now.

Also- please give us some info on the pace you are shipping – when shipment relating to a specific order week go out.

No surprise about further delays. What I don’t understand is the delay in sending the second battery. When customs intercepts my parcel I have to go and pick it up or pay a handling fee regardless of whether or not I have to pay tax. So when you finally ship to me I am going to have to go twice to customs to collect my snap and extras or give up my place in the queue for a single shipment.
    Also :
Will you be using expedited delivery?
Why can you not give a more precise shipping schedule for preorders?
    Where are the apps?
Why are your beta testers still under NDA?
What is the schedule for the promised add-ons? (Originally meant to be available autumn 2016)

NB please do not use the word soon. Unlike VR, I find it hard to view this process in astronomical time frames.

    • Ron Gryn

      Reply

The reason for the delay in shipping the extras is that we do not have the required fixtures, space, personnel, etc. to build twice as many batteries as full units and have them all ready to ship. Most of our customers would rather play with Snap sooner and wait for the extras to get caught up.

    • Ron Gryn

      Reply

Chuck, we are leaving the “pre-order” pop-up up until we take care of the backlog. We cannot ship to new customers without shipping to our loyal and amazing supporters. Pre-order in this case simply means that an order placed today will not ship within two weeks.

Okay has anyone been able to get the app on iTunes yet? My iPad couldn’t find it so I found it on my desktop and emailedit to myself. Clicking on the link on my iPad opens up the Apps store but nothing displays. It just says “Vantage Robotics LLC” and that’s it. I’d love to get it so I can check out the manuals
